Independence from Foreign Oil
There is no issue with greater economic, environmental, or national security implications than America’s dependence on foreign oil. As gasoline prices soar, Kansans are left with fewer resources to meet the needs of their families. The emissions from automobiles are also contributing to an environment in decline.
Energy Policy
As the founder of Environmental Lighting Concepts and Custom Energy, Orman has a history of bringing commonsense energy solutions to the marketplace. Environmental Lighting Concepts installed energy-saving lighting systems that led to a cumulative reduction of over one million tons of emissions – roughly the equivalent of taking 20,000 automobiles off the road forever.
Iraq
The current administration’s inability to develop a safe exit strategy has not only put our troops in harm’s way, but has also over-extended our armed services abroad. We must continue to provide our military with the best equipment and support possible in Iraq, while developing a comprehensive exit strategy that serves them best.
Education
If our nation is to remain competitive in the global marketplace, we must invest in America’s greatest natural resource, the American people.When Washington started out crafting the No Child Left Behind law, the overall goal was something all of us believe in: requiring accountability for how our public schools educate our children and prepare them for the future.
Taxes
The current tax code is a 67,000 page monstrosity that is almost impossible for the average taxpayer to complete. After spending countless hours and hundreds of dollars in tax preparation fees, there is almost no certainty that the return is correct. Greg Orman believes we should seek to re-write the tax code to eliminate its complexity.
Veteran Affairs
Our commitment to the men and women who put their lives on the line should not end when the last bullet is fired. Greg Orman believes we must keep our promise to our men and women in uniform who have risked their lives defending our freedom. With almost a quarter of a million veterans in the state of Kansas, Orman will demand that veterans are treated fairly.
Commitment to Life Sciences
America has a history of making significant contributions toward life sciences. Through our commitment to research we have cured numerous diseases. We continue to make progress and are on the cusp of making breakthroughs on a whole range of conditions, from juvenile diabetes to cystic fibrosis. Through our medical community, research institutes, and institutions of higher learning, Kansans are a critical part of this process.
